The Bruins strengthened their roster before making the quick trip to Long Island for their game against the Islanders on Saturday. On an emergency basis, the Bruins called up Mark McLaughlin from Providence. McLaughlin, a North Billerica, Massachusetts native and former Boston College player, takes Anthony Richard’s spot on the active roster after Richard was sent down on Thursday.
After signing with the Bruins as an undrafted
free agent, the 24-year-old forward had 19 goals and 22 assists in 120 career games with Providence. This season, he scored six goals and five assists in 53 games in the AHL. In thirteen previous NHL games with Boston, he had three goals. It’s unknown if he will participate in the game against the Islanders or only provide depth.
