Brentford boss Thomas Frank adamant over what will happen to Everton and Nottingham Forest next
Thomas Frank, the manager of Brentford, strongly anticipates that Everton and Nottingham Forest to lose points for their PSR violations.
This week, Everton’s 10 points that were taken away earlier in the campaign were restored to them, but they still have to pay a second fine.
Frank wants a judgment made quickly because his Brentford team is in danger of being relegated, and a hearing is scheduled for later this month.
According to The Standard [1 March], Frank stated, “For me, it’s very simple: if you break the rules, there needs to be sanction – end of discussion.”
“That’s our world; that’s the civilization we live in—football world, boom. How much or how little?
“I’m not as smart as these men are. Fortunately, they handle that, and they ought to be aware of the appropriate penalty.
“If it’s two points, six points, ten points, 20 points, I don’t care – that’s up to them. I’m here to coach a football team and try to win football matches.
“The only thing I would say is Nottingham and Everton will, with what you read, get a points deduction in the near future.
“They will file an appeal, and we must find out the outcome of that appeal before the season ends, for the benefit of all parties concerned, particularly them.”
PSR hearings for Nottingham Forest and Everton are scheduled for this month.
Frank is correct when he says that a choice must be taken quickly. The issue is that, should both teams be punished points, it has already been publicly reported that any appeals will not be resolved until after the season.
It sets up a remarkable scenario in which a team could celebrate staying up on the final day, or indeed believe they have been relegated, only to find out a week later that the opposite is true.
The possibility that this will carry on forever is unfair to everyone. Everton supporters are completely accustomed to this given that they had endured so long for the initial PSR appeal to be granted.
Sean Dyche needs to continue scoring goals and cross his fingers that we won’t be negatively affected too much by a potential second-half point deduction.
The picture will remain extremely hazy until the end of the season and possibly beyond, though, given how tight the bottom half is.
