A BBC expert calls Celtic’s admission “ridiculous” at a “pivotal” point in Rangers’ title campaign.

Ian McCall thinks Celtic’s current form is “ridiculous,” even if they are currently trailing Rangers in the SPL championship battle.

After the Gers have won 11 straight games, the pundit claimed on Thursday, February 29, on the Scottish Football Podcast that it’s like the “old days,” with both sides merely focusing on each other’s performance.

There hasn’t been a title fight like this in a “number of years,” he continued, but he thinks the Light Blues’ triumph over Kilmarnock could be “pivotal” to their hopes of winning the top prize in Scottish football this year.

“You look at the results, they’ve won nine and drawn two out of eleven or something ridiculous like that, and I know people say Celtic’s form is not good,” McCall remarked.

“Rangers have triumphed 10 times in a row. This reminds me of the old days when the Rangers and Celtics would simply look at each other’s records at five o’clock. This is a highly interesting title competition that we haven’t seen in a long time.

“I simply believe that winning down there [at Kilmarnock] could be crucial.” Lawrence, back to full fitness, fantastic winner. It was a huge victory for both Clement and the Rangers.

Rangers and Celtics’ title match demands that they stay focused.

Rangers and Celtic are neck and neck as the season enters its last few months, a scenario that hasn’t happened in the SPL in a long time.

When Philippe Clement first arrived at Ibrox, the Gers appeared to be out of the race, but he has put together an amazing comeback to put them two points ahead of their Old Firm opponents at the top of the league.

Although the Hoops have received criticism recently for their play, their form isn’t all that poor despite a few slip-ups recently.

With so much at stake, this is a first-time experience for the great majority of players at both clubs, who have never been in a title race this intense.

However, the Light Blues’ only task is to concentrate on playing well and winning their own games; after that, this season’s championship competition will take care of itself.
