Nottingham Forest defender Felipe was very lucky not to get sent off last night – according to a former referee.
Keith Hackett has been speaking on X regarding an incident at the end of last night’s game against Manchester United.
So, what has Hackett said about Forest central defender Felipe? Let’s take a closer look…
What Keith Hackett said about Forest star Felipe last night
At the conclusion of Forest and United’s FA Cup match last night, things did indeed seem to be heating up.
The fact that Bruno Fernandes was involved in the action when Forest star Felipe took it will not come as a surprise.
Fernandes did what he does well for the most of the game: complain and act hurt when he isn’t.
Soon after United had scored a late goal, Felipe took offence at the way the Forest player was playing, and it looked as though he grabbed him by the throat.
Hackett took to X to explain to Felipe why he should have seen red, as he was stunned by what he was witnessing.
In his opinion, this behaviour ought to have resulted in the player receiving a red card, he stated. This is an unacceptable behaviour, and football should not tolerate it. How is a referee supposed to assess force? It bothers me to see hands in the face; they are too red.
Felipe was lucky but Reds are owed a break
Isn’t that funny? When Manchester United is found to have lost a VAR appeal, the media goes into meltdown.
Few people have raised an eyebrow despite weeks of poor decision-making and poor VAR for the Reds.
Mark Clattenburg, who Forest has hired to assist them with some match officials duties, may have some advice for Felipe this morning.
Even though Fernandes may tyre opponents, Forest cannot afford to receive unnecessary red cards for incidents like this.
Felipe is only now beginning to make an impression on the Forest squad; maybe, he can take this as a lesson and manage his emotions a little better the next time.
