According to The Athletic, if Dele Alli decides to extend his current contract at Goodison Park beyond the summer, Tottenham will get a fee from Everton.
Dele’s time with Besiktas has now elapsed more than a year; the midfield player’s loan stint was terminated at the end of the previous campaign owing to a rectus femoris muscle ailment.
The former Tottenham player has subsequently seen a number of setbacks in his recuperation, and The Athletic report that while he is now making progress, a comeback before the end of the season is not anticipated (though it has not been fully ruled out).
According to the article, in the original agreement reached in 2022 between Tottenham and Everton, the Merseyside club committed to pay £10 million if the player made 20 appearances but did not pay a price to the North London team.
If Dele signs a new contract, Everton will owe Spurs money.
Dele has only made 13 appearances to date, and it’s been said that Everton is willing to offer the midfield player a new contract as his current one is due to expire.
However, the article notes that, in accordance with the rules of the original deal, Sean Dyche’s team would owe Spurs a lump sum should the 27-year-old sign new terms.
