The Daily Record reports that Rangers would probably permit MacKenzie Strachan to leave Ibrox despite Brentford’s interest in the 20-year-old midfield player.
According to an online source, the Bees are eager to add Strachan to their development squad before the upcoming season, and if a deal is reached, the Gers are unlikely to stand in the way. This information was reported on February 28.
The midfield player signed a two-year contract back in 2022, and it is known that his contract will expire at the end of the current campaign.
Who will be the next to depart Rangers for Brentford, MacKenzie Strachan?
Strachan will be joining former Rangers youngster Nathan Young-Coombes, who joined the Bees in 2022 and is now on loan at Wimbledon, if the deal goes through.
Now that Auchenhowie is 20 years old and hasn’t played a senior game for Rangers, it seems like his chances of breaking through have completely gone.
He recently had a loan move from the team, spending the first part of the 2023–2024 season with Stranraer until being called back.
A number of youthful talents have made it into the starting lineup; the latest example of Philippe Clement’s belief that you are old enough if you are good enough is Ross McCausland.
The incredible winger is still developing in the senior squad as he has already made 28 appearances for Rangers, contributing two assists and two goals.
Despite this, Strachan is set to leave Ibrox soon. He may be joining Young-Coombes, a former Rangers academy standout, which will disappoint some Ibrox supporters who will be hoping for new blood.
For Strachan, it hasn’t quite worked out, which will upset everyone who has been following his progress at Auchenhowie. While not every player has the potential to be a superstar, Brentford has obviously noticed something special in the 20-year-old.
