Yannick Bolasie was once known as one of the Premier League’s great entertainers.
The 34-year-old left a lasting impression on everyone at Crystal Palace thanks to his lightning-fast feet, which rank among the best the top flight has ever seen.
It’s reasonable to argue, though, that the winger’s career hasn’t exactly gone as expected.
Bolasie struggled to establish himself at Goodison Park following his move to Everton in 2016. Four loan stints ensued.
It was, all in all, a rather dismal transfer.
Bolasie did, however, have one advantage: he could now play with a rival he had never been fond of.
Bolasie in awe of Everton legend
The former Crystal Palace winger asserted that one of his most tough opponents is Seamus Coleman in an interview with the FILTHYFELLAS Podcast.
“He is fast! And strong, mad strong! That’s one of the fullbacks I can say when I am playing against him, it’s a real battle.
“He is aware that we are engaged in a fierce struggle, but I am choosing to go in one direction while he is trying to take me in another.
“It was nice to have you on my side at last, Everton said when I arrived.”
Coleman has a strong case to be considered among the Premier League’s greatest acquisitions ever made for a reasonable price.
The defender completed his £60,000 move to Goodison Park fifteen years ago.
Despite 415 appearances, the right-back is still performing well. When he inevitably leaves Goodison Park, the 35-year-old will be remembered as an Everton great.
Sean Dyche remarked, “He encapsulates the feeling of what the club is about, or should be.”
Many players seem to be buying into it, and I believe that mentality originates with him since he spreads it throughout the team.
“He is aware of the respect he receives from the players, coaches, and fans, and he has every right to be so.
“I bring up our commander one again; he knows he’s done well. I am happy that he appears muscular and in good shape.
There is no doubt that Everton would benefit from having a player arrive who could have the same kind of impression Coleman did during his 15-year stay at Goodison Park.
