Before young Amadou Onana officially joined Everton from Lille in the summer of 2022, French football analyst Julien Laurens wanted to make sure that the supporters of The Toffees knew exactly what kind of player they were receiving.
With his height of 6 feet 4 inches, it would have been very simple to draw comparisons between the broad-shouldered Belgian and Maraouane Fellaini, his former Everton teammate.

Has Everton discovered a different Amadou Onana?
Despite his size and aerial skill, Fellaini was frequently deemed inadequate in terms of ball distribution and carrying. particularly after he moved to Manchester United and had to deal with the spotlight and pressure that come with being a player at Old Trafford.

According to WhoScored, Onana averages 2.5 tackles per game at a failing Everton, whereas Onyedika averages 2.1 tackles per game in one of the strongest teams in Belgium. HITC has been informed that Onyedika also has fans at Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace, and Brentford.
Instead of being just another destroyer in the vein of Idrissa Gana Gueye, what sets him apart as a possible long-term replacement to the prized Belgian is his ability to take up the ball in the number six spot, spin away from his marker, and then drive up field. The kind of press-resistant attributes with which Pogba was known during his prime.
The Nigerian newspaper Punch describes Onyedika as a versatile player who primarily plays as a central midfielder but can also play on the right flank, in a holding role, as a deep-lying playmaker, in a box-to-box role, or even as an attacking midfielder. Onyedika also shares Onana’s tactical adaptability.
