James Garner, a midfielder for Everton, has been linked to Tottenham Hotspur.
It would be fascinating to see if the 22-year-old can stay with Everton beyond this season, since he has been a very impressive player for the Toffees this season.
They are presently engaged in a relegation struggle, and should they lose to the Championship, it might be tough for them to retain their finest players.
Garner has been listed as one of the possible targets for Tottenham, who are trying to bolster their centre of the park with additional talent and depth. Given Everton’s FFP issues, former Tottenham custodian Paul Robinson thinks the transaction would be simple to close.
If a sizable offer is made, the Toffees may feel pressured to sell their star players in order to balance the books. Furthermore, if Everton is relegated this season, Garner might be persuaded to stay in the Premier League.
But Robinson thinks Garner is just a mediocre player and not talented enough to lead them to the next level.
He stated, “He’s stood out in a struggling Everton side,” in an interview with Tottenham News. He’s done exceptionally well this season, in my opinion. However, when you consider the Tottenham team and their style of play, you start to wonder how he would fit there.
I am aware that he is capable of playing both sitting and attacking midfield, but when you consider the other players they already have, do you think he would be a good addition to the team?
“Ganer’s could be a simple one to complete given Everton’s situation with the FFP. Because of their current point [deduction] status, Everton may be easy prey for larger vultures at the end of the season.
“And if their players are in the Championship, deals might be more appealing to be made for them.
“It’s interesting to watch, but I don’t see his place in the Spurs starting lineup.” He’s a respectable player, but I’m not sure if he can help you reach the next level.
Conor Gallagher, a midfield player for Chelsea, has also been connected to Tottenham.
It’s clear that they want to sign a top-tier central midfield player, but it’s unclear who they will ultimately choose.
They are in a good position to place in the top four and are currently striving for Champions League qualifying. They would have greater resources at their disposal and would attract players if they were to return to the Champions League.
