With seven different players finding the scoresheet in Celtic’s 7-1 triumph over Dundee yesterday night, they provided some great entertainment.
To the joy of the home support, Adam Idah and Matt O’Riley powered home after Cameron Carter-Vickers got his side off to a good start.
Due to additional heroics from Greg Taylor, Callum McGregor, and Daizen Maeda, the Bhoys astonishingly soared into an unquestionable 6-0 lead at halftime, receiving a raucous reception from thrilled supporters.
Finally, in minute 63, 18-year-old midfielder Daniel Kelly curled home to score his first goal for the team, setting a historic precedent that the young player will remember for years to come.
Everyone at Parkhead seemed to be singing from the same hymn sheet as a sense of solidarity emerged among the players, fans, and manager—despite Michael Mellon’s late consolation for the visitors.
Moreover, Celtic managed to reduce the gap between us and Rangers to just one goal, which is a good development because we all know how crucial that will be come playoff time.
Moving forward, Brendan Rodgers will now get his team ready for Sunday’s crucial away match against Heart of Midlothian at Tynecastle.
Chris Sutton isn’t getting carried away by Celtic win over Dundee
Chris Sutton acknowledged that Celtic’s victory over Dundee under the lights was a “big night,” but he isn’t getting too “carried away” given his old side’s trip to the capital this weekend.
Speaking during Livingston vs. Motherwell live on Sky Sports, the fifty-year-old said, “Let’s not get too carried away with that.”
The night was significant for the goal differential. Are the Rangers one and a better team? In that sense, the evening is significant.
However, Rangers’ victory at Rugby Park was extremely important to them. We have a tremendous matchup on Sunday.
Let’s be clear: based on our observations this season, we have no idea which Celtic team will show up when they play Hearts.
Sutton has unquestionably taken the cautious approach by not getting ahead of himself in regards to the Hoops’ prospects of winning the Scottish Premiership trophy and riding off into the sunset.
He has undoubtedly had his fair share of title drama during the pinnacle of his playing career, and when considering his remarks regarding Celtic’s constancy, he does have a point.
However, it is our right as supporters to celebrate, and it is good to see some optimism surrounding the team again after a time of dissatisfaction on the field.
Celtic now need to demonstrate true league and cup consistency.
