With all three points, the league leaders returned down the M77, but some surprising choices were
made.
Philippe Clement called it WEIRD that Rangers were not handed a penalty at Rugby Park, considering
Kilmarnock had been awarded a spot kick for a handball of a similar nature.
The perplexed Belgian’s remarks were made just a few hours after veteran referee Steve Conroy
expressed his concerns that a VAR ruling might decide the outcome of the Scottish Premiership
championship match.
After a lackluster first half performance in which they were behind early on due to a penalty kick by
Danny Armstrong after referee David Dickinson penalized John Lundstram, the Light Blues rallied for a
decisive three points in Ayrshire.
Andrew Dallas was on VAR duty and didn’t see it as a clear and obvious error worth sending the man in
the middle to the monitor to review. But then an incident at the other end late on left Clement perplexed.
The fixture wasn’t beamed live on Sky Sports so the pundits didn’t give a string of incidents the usual
analysis, although the Kilmarnock TV commentary team – including ex Rangers player Dave MacKinnon
