Philippe Clement makes “impossible” stand point amid pre-Kilmarnock game time conundrum.
One thing that Philippe Clement hasn’t been scared to do is rotate his Rangers team since taking over as manager.
The Gers boss doesn’t just rotate for the sake of it either and employs it to keep his squad fresh and to keep them interested.
Philippe Clement is still having to handle a lengthy injury list but is making sure that he is keeping all of his Rangers players ticking over as they knock on his door wanting for more playing time.
Philippe Clement discusses Rangers philosophy
There is a science to his methods and one that is focused towards a game plan that has been working, nearly since day one.
It is all about intesity.
Asking the same players to go to the well time, after time, just isn’t practicable, however, James Tavernier, Connor Goldson and John Lundstram rarely receive any time off such is their importance.
They are also three of the most strong players that you will find in modern football.
Speaking as part of the buildup to tonight’s battle with Kilmarnock, Philippe Clement highlighted why most Rangers players won’t be playing every game:
“It was the same in my other teams also in periods like that because it is the only way to be there on top every time and with the way we want to play football, with a lot of intensity.
“You cannot do it with the same 12, 13 players for months, every three days. It is impossible. The crew gets the story now. Are they totally happy with that all the time? No.
“But they are totally happy all the time until now that they are in this good story now together and they feel also that they are winning a lot of games and they get enough minutes to shine, to be in the spotlight.”
It makes absolute logic but it doesn’t always work if players don’t buy into the idea or what the manager is trying to accomplish.
What is evident, is that Philippe Clement is getting his point across and the whole team wants to impress whenever they are given a chance.
They appreciate that it is about the group and that they have varying levels of roles to perform yet there is an equality.
Whatever he is saying to them, it is working, long may it continue.
