Just In: Nottingham Forest to land points deduction

The paperwork from Everton’s appeal suggests that a points deduction is now inevitable for Nottingham Forest this season, Football Insider can reveal.

Following a successful appeal, the Toffees’ 10-point deduction was lowered to six points on Monday, February 26.

The focus now shifts to dealing with the charges pertaining to Nottingham Forest’s 2022–2023 account and Everton’s second charge.

The Premier League has implemented new fast-track regulations that provide that both clubs shall be notified of the outcome of their violations by the end of the 2023–24 season.

Nottingham Forest can no longer avoid points deduction as Everton appeal paperwork uncovered

The Premier League released a statement and the complete written justification for the Appeal Board’s rulings after Everton’s successful appeal.

“Any breach of rule E.51 (i.e. any PSR Calculation showing losses of over £105m over the relevant period) warrants a points deduction, and nothing less than a points deduction,” reads section 201 of that document.

Forest “admitted” to the Premier League, according to The Times, that they had surpassed their permitted losses of £61 million over three years, which put them in violation of financial laws.

The result of Everton’s appeal indicates that since the team acknowledged suffering from significant losses, Forest will definitely lose points this season.

Depending on how big of a loss Forest has during the previous three years, points will be deducted.
