‘If we’re going to get something’ – Kilmarnock boss outlines strategy ahead of Rangers visit

‘If we’re going to get something’ – Kilmarnock boss outlines strategy ahead of Rangers visit.

Rangers travel to Kilmarnock this evening hoping to gain another crucial three points in the Scottish Premiership title chase.

Kilmarnock’s manager, Derek McInnes, has challenged his players ahead of their match against league leaders Rangers at Rugby Park this evening.

The Killie head coach has already seen his team topple Rangers and Celtic this season and has explained his tactics ahead of the game at The BBSP. He hopes for another big win on home turf and encourages his players to demonstrate what they’re made of.

“We play here every two weeks. There is a familiarity to what we do here. It’s critical that Rangers feel us tomorrow night and see a confident Kilmarnock team,” added McInnes.

“If we are to succeed, we must work together. The players should be confident in themselves. That will be tested, without a doubt, but we need to use everything we have, and a confident Kilmarnock player is what we need against Rangers,” he continued.

Philippe Clement’s Gers enter the game on the heels of an incredible eight-game winning streak in the league that has seen them leapfrog rivals Celtic, though McInnes’ side has already proved they can wreak havoc on both Old Firm sides’ trophy hopes this season.

“It’ll be chaos here; it’ll be a fantastic atmosphere. It’s the type of game that gamers desire to participate in. The game requires your full attention and concentration. You have to be prepared to fight fire with fire. “We want to make sure we own that pitch tomorrow night,” said the 52-year-old manager.

Meanwhile, Rangers defender Connor Goldson has urged his teammates to focus on themselves and handle a ‘tough’ trip to Kilmarnock to stay ahead in the title battle.

“We have a big game on Wednesday at a challenging stadium against a team that upset us 1-0 earlier this season and has beaten Celtic at home. We know how difficult it is to get there, so we just need to focus on that and maybe score another three points.

“I’ve always been the same, I take it game by game, day by day and try to enjoy it and work as hard as I can and keep my body in the right place to be able to perform and perform at the highest level possible” said the Germany defender.
