Following their victory over Motherwell over the weekend, Celtic appear to have found a new rhythm as the games get closer and the title battle heats up.
Despite playing with a late lead against the Steelmen, Brendan Rodgers’ team managed to secure a crucial three points, maintaining their lead over the Rangers at the top of the table.
As significant players start to recover from injuries, John Hartson thinks that one player—Callum McGregor—is equally as crucial to Celtic as the captain.
Hartson declared, “He’s massive,” on [The Go Radio Football Show. He belongs to McGregor. I believe that Cameron Carter Vickers instills that composure in the back four when he plays.
“He checks both boxes well. He poses a risk. He moves to head it off on the defensive. He attacks the ball offensively and is at ease when in control.
“He can emerge with the ball behind him. It’s a really good thing he passed away. But merely to see the size of the boy behind and next to Scales.
“And I believe that Johnston, Carter Vickers, Scales, and Taylor would be Celtic’s go-to back four if they remain healthy and fit through the end of the season.”
The vice captain of the Hoops is a rock at the centre of the Celtic defensive. Carter-Vickers has played in just three domestic games for Celtic in the past two and a half seasons since his £6 million move from Spurs.
The only games Celtic lost with Carter-Vickers in the lineup were the 2-1 Scottish Cup semi-final in 2022 that they lost in extra time, the 2-0 loss to Hearts this season, and the 1-0 loss to Livingston at the beginning of the 2021–2022 season. [Transfermarkt]
His return has given our chances of winning the title a huge boost. He is a true rock for Celtic.
