Forgotten Everton star reportedly on course to win a new deal with the club despite not playing for the Toffees since August 2022

According to reports, Everton is willing to offer Dele Alli a new contract, which might provide him with a career-saving opportunity.

Due to a terrible loan stint at Besiktas last year and a litany of injury issues plaguing the last 12 months, the 27-year-old has been absent from Sean Dyche’s squad for the all of his time in the hot seat at Goodison Park.

After undergoing surgery in April 2023 to repair a tendon in his quadriceps, Alli experienced a setback during his scheduled return in November of the previous year, necessitating another quadruple surgery. With his protracted suspension and bad play, the former England great has faded into obscurity in the Premier League, but there may yet be hope.

With his current contract scheduled to expire at the end of the season, the Toffees are open to offering Alli a new agreement. The Athletic reports that Alli has returned to Finch Farm to start the next phases of his injury treatment.

Alli hopes to return to play by preseason, so there’s a chance he may be back in the mix for the start of the next campaign. The midfield player, who is eager to stay in the Premier League, is reportedly making good progress. However, Everton’s survival is still in jeopardy because 777 Partners’ protracted takeover process has not yet been finalized, even though their ten-point deduction has been reduced to six.

The MK Dons academy alumnus last appeared for Everton in an August 2022 away 2-1 loss to Aston Villa as a late substitution. Alli joined Turkish Super Lig team Besiktas on loan for the rest of the season in an attempt to jumpstart his career, but he hasn’t played for them since February of last year due to an injury that has kept him out of action ever since.
