Everton: Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer react to news emerging from Goodison Park

Regarding Everton and the information that surfaced this week regarding their points appeal, Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer are in agreement.

Lineker thinks that they will be as motivated by this as they were when they initially heard about the 10-point penalty.

Shearer concurs and believes it will be beneficial for all of the residents of Goodison Park.

“I think in many ways, they’re going through a bad run,” Lineker said (3:17) in an interview with the Rest of Football Podcast. It’s already nine games without a victory. At first, it seemed like receiving the point deduction inspired them to take action, didn’t it? They are typically not very motivated for long, as we all know. Of course, players need to be motivated in any case. This might galvanize in a somewhat different way as well.

“They will feel vindicated,” Shearer continued. As of right now, it gives Everton a tremendous lift and boost while giving the other teams a little kick.

Merseysiders should rejoice that Shearer and Lineker are right on point, but watch out that anyone gets too excited.
