Dallas Cowboys Projected To Select Former FSU Football Star In First Round
Over the next week, players participating in athletic testing, on-field drills, and interviews will have the opportunity to either help or hurt themselves. The NFL Combine is under way in Indianapolis, where prospects are hoping to use the event to increase their draft stock. The elite players will also have the opportunity to distinguish themselves from the rest.
Former Florida State star wide receiver Keon Coleman is one of the top prospects at his position. With his decision to run the 40-yard dash at the combine, there’s an opportunity for Coleman to solidify himself as a first-round pick. As of now, he’s considered a late-first to early-second round selection among a talented class of wide receivers.
Many clubs in the league could use a wide receiver who can make plays and make even the most difficult challenged catches. Chris Vannini of The Athletic recently projected Coleman to end up with the Dallas Cowboys with the No. 24 overall pick.
“The Cowboys have options here, but the offense has lacked a WR2 alongside CeeDee Lamb since the Amari Cooper trade. The 6-4 Coleman is a physical specimen who had 11 touchdowns on 50 catches for FSU last season. There’s no such thing as a 50-50 ball with Coleman, especially matched up against No. 2 cornerbacks. Give Dak Prescott another elite receiving weapon. — Vannini”
In his lone season at Florida State, Coleman returned 25 punts for 300 yards and caught 50 catches for 658 yards and 11 touchdowns. Being selected for the First-Team All-ACC at three distinct positions (wide receiver, all-purpose player, and specialist) made him the first player in program history. After catching six touchdowns in his first four games, Coleman was sidelined for the majority of the second half of the season due to injuries.
Coleman played two seasons at Michigan State before joining the Seminoles, where he caught 65 passes for 848 yards and eight touchdowns. As a three-star prospect in the 2021 class, he inked a contract with the Spartans.
The start of the NFL Draft is set for Thursday, April 25, 2024.
