Shearer commended Dubravka for his performance, as the seasoned goalie made a triumphant comeback to the United squad following his absence from Saturday’s loss at Arsenal due to sickness.

“Obviously, I feel bad for Blackburn, but Newcastle owes him (Dubravka) a lot tonight,” he said to BBC Sport. This evening, he has been their finest player. made some amazing stops in the extra time in the first 90 minutes. He has, of course, made two saves when faced with penalties. They have a great debt to him. It is down to him that they advance to the following round.

When considering the performance of the Championship team, Shearer also had kind things to say about Rovers. On Saturday afternoon, Rovers will host Swansea City in the second tier of competition.

According to him, Blackburn was extremely well-organized under John Eustace, and they presented a formidable opponent to Newcastle. They had more opportunities throughout the entire ninety minutes and were, at times, the superior team. Both teams then had excellent opportunities in extra time, but John Eustace and Blackburn deserve special recognition for their failure to convert them. They won’t have to worry about relegation at all if they continue to play like way this season.
