“We just like drafting good players,” says John Lynch when discussing the 49ers draft strategy.

During his speech at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, John Lynch answered questions regarding their draft philosophy, Brandon Aiyuk’s situation, and the open defensive coordinator post.

John, draft selections and roster building are obviously subject to change while the draft is underway. Would you say that your draft approach is more about selecting the best player available or selecting players based on need at particular positions?

It’s different, in my opinion, to every year and every cycle; you clearly have a general concept. It doesn’t matter when we draft talented individuals; occasionally, they are not selected and become free agents. We simply enjoy selecting talented players.

Furthermore, we’ve demonstrated—I believe—that joining our team at any point along the process doesn’t really matter. You will have a chance, and you will become a member of us if you are able to assist us. That’s what we search for, then. We attempt to concentrate on the many qualities that we have identified throughout time as being important to us, in terms of the player’s makeup as well as their skill.

That’s what we’ve discovered works, then.

The 49ers aim to cultivate traits both on and off the field. Lynch described how Ji’Ayir Brown’s meeting and tape completely stunned the crew. Regardless of the players’ apparent worth from the outside, the team will attack them.

Prior to his news conference, Lynch welcomed “Big Dom” from the Philadelphia sidelines, where he was joined by Eagles HC Nick Sirianni and General Manager Howie Roseman.

When Roseman inquired as to Dom’s status as John Lynch’s “security.” “Big Niners fan,” Dom retorted.

Just a little bit of fun before the press conference started.
