There are probably a few things that Green Bay Packers supporters would suggest the team work on during the off-season. Some would argue that the offense need more offensive linemen and weapons. You’ll hear that in order to complement Aaron Jones, the team needs another RB.
But more often than not, Packers supporters will be screaming and crying about how the defense must improve in the upcoming season. But it’s far easier said than done to fix a defense.
Jeff Hafley is the team’s current DC for the future. They will undoubtedly sign some big stars on that side of the ball alone because to their enormous cap space. Patrick Queen of Baltimore is the name that appears to be most associated with the Packers.
Why Is Patrick Queen Associated With The Green Bay Packers? Who Is Patrick Queen?
Since the 2020 campaign, Patrick Queen has been the Baltimore Ravens’ starting interior linebacker. a player that some of the more seasoned Packers supporters may recognize because the organization was strongly suspected of selecting him in the notorious 2020 draft.Raheem Mostert ran wild in the NFC Championship, and the squad was in dire need of someone to help them win going forward.
Green Bay chose Jordan Love instead. Although it was a contentious decision at the time, it might have held up well—especially if the Packers end up with Queen somehow.
The Tennessee Titans, a squad with a potent run game, were the opponent that the Ravens again lost to in a devastating finish to their 2019 campaign. The Ravens made a concerted effort to strengthen their run defense throughout the offseason by signing players like Derek Wolfe and Cameron Campbell. The Packers weren’t on the same mission and had far more faith in the players they already had.
As a result, one side was able to get a long-term quarterback, while the other selected a linebacker directly from the team that had just won the NCAA.
Having saying that, things haven’t always been easy for the Charm City crew. Although Baltimore did stop Derrick Henry during the 2021 Wild Card Weekend, the team’s run defense was not always reliable that year. The Ravens top the NFL in run defense in 2021, demonstrating how much better it has gotten every year. That was partially caused by the poor passing defense that season, however Queen’s presence also had a role.

The Ravens have likely had the strongest ILB tandem in the NFL when they famously traded for Roquan Smith in 2022. So Patrick is elite, is that correct?
What Is Patrick Queen’s Quality? For Fans of the Green Bay Packers, His Strong Points And Weak Points
Queen is truly a unique player. If that is the case, then why did Baltimore agree to trade Roquan in the first place?
While statistics don’t always tell the whole story, Queen has, to put it mildly, been a playmaker in that regard. Queen has 13.5 sacks, 11 total FF/FR, and 4 interceptions in just 4 years. He has a flair for forcing turnovers and is as outstanding a pass rusher as an ILB can be. In 2020, he received a few votes for DROY, and in 2023, he was selected to the Pro Bowl and the second team All-Pro.
Queen had been something of a letdown during the Roquan transaction. It should be noted that while Roquan hasn’t exactly elevated him to the top of the game, he has been more effective since the Smith trade. It’s already common knowledge that Eric DeCosta drafts late-boomers, or players that take three to four years to develop into exceptional players. Packer fans, does this sound familiar?
Without a doubt, Queen has been that kind of player. Although Patrick was underappreciated by Ravens supporters before to the Roquan trade, not everyone was a fan of his boom-or-bust playstyle throughout his early career. There were times when he brought the Ravens closer to victory on his own. I can still remember his DPotW performance against the Bengals in 2020 and his five TFLs in the Browns primetime game in 2021.
Patrick has improved as a player, especially in his weakest positions like tackling and screen/pass coverage. However, it’s still a bit of a vulnerability, so Packers supporters should be wary of desiring Queen.
What Position Would Patrick Queen Hold In Jeff Hafley’s Organization?
Fresh DC According to reports, Jeff Hafley is a freeform coach that uses a variety of strategies and systems depending on the players and opposition.
Having stated that, his main passion is press-man coverage. Although Patrick Queen excels in zone coverage, he is not at all good at man-to-man defense. Even though he was excellent everywhere else, Ravens fans’ perceptions of him were tarnished by his being burnt by Travis Kelce and other well-known tight ends.
The Packers would have to move Queen around according on the play if they were to acquire him. Patrick should be moved up on the line or used as a hole player/spy if the team chooses to play man coverage. His coverage of RBs is not too poor, but he is targeted nine times out of ten whether he is covering TEs or WRs.
