James McFadden and Charlie Mulgrew couldn’t agree on whether Motherwell sensation Lennon Miller should be signed by the Rangers.
The 17-year-old’s fantastic assist for Blair Spittal gave the home team the lead at Fir Park. The two were speaking during the Sky Sports match coverage of the Well’s 3-1 loss to Celtic on February 25. The former Hops defender said that both sides of the Old Firm should be looking to sign him up “now” because of his obvious intelligence on the pitch.
However, McFadden, the former forward for Motherwell and Everton, argued that he needed more time to develop before considering a move up to Ibrox or Parkhead at this early stage.
According to Mulgrew, who made this statement through the Scottish Sun, “You see the effect he had on the game—he plays like a man.” He is really intelligent. He is seen pleading with the goalie to flip on the goal kick, just like his father [Lee] used to do.
What a talented individual. He is a calm young man from a respectable household. He is someone I would sign right away and add to the roster if I were the Rangers or Celtics. What an athlete he is.
McFadden, however, retorted, “No, leave him, let him grow!”

Miller only has 26 senior appearances under his belt, but his turn and pass to set up Spittal’s fantastic opener revealed that fact and caused clubs to pay attention, if they hadn’t already.
