Jack Harrison and ten other transfer decisions Leeds United have to make this summer

This summer, Leeds United must make a lot of transfer decisions.

There’s no doubt that plans are already underway for the summer transfer window, regardless of whatever league Leeds United plays in next season.

Either Leeds playing in the Premier League or staying in the Championship, plans will be developed for both scenarios. Which direction the club goes in will depend on what transpires at the end of the season.

The long-term future of the players the team sent out on loan this season is one of the decisions that needs to be decided. Among them is Jack Harrison, who signed a contract extension at Elland Road a few months after he was on the verge of quitting the team, before joining Everton on a loan.

According to recent reports, the midfield player is eager to settle down permanently at Goodison Park. Leeds now has a choice to make, particularly if they want to return to the Premier League the following year.

If Everton stays in the top division this season, the club might not be eager to bolster what they see as a rival. Additionally, the Toffees might not have the money to pay Leeds a large sum to convince them otherwise given their current financial predicament and the Premier League’s restrictions.

Harrison has made 20 league appearances for Everton this season, scoring three goals. If Leeds prevents a summer transfer, they may end up with a disgruntled player.

Harrison might not be the only one.

a player in a comparable circumstance when the summer transfer market opens. Max Wober, a defender, was a summer loanee at Borussia Monchengladbach and has since become a regular player for the team in the Bundesliga.

Leeds might want to go back to the Austrian if they are promoted. He still has three years left on his Elland Road contract.

After making a temporary move to Union Berlin, attacking midfielder Brenden Aaronson is also a regular in the Bundesliga. Rasmus Kristensen is an AS Roma right-back at the moment.

Since the contracts for all three expire in2027, Leeds may choose to reintegrate them into the team or cash in on them in the summer. Both Marc Roca and Diego Llorente are currently on loan and have contracts expiring in 2026.

The two other players on loan who will still have contracts with the team when they return are Sam Greenwood and Darko Gyabi. Gyano is with Plymouth Argyle, while Greenwood plays for Middlesbrough in the Championship.

Following those choices, Leeds will also need to consider the return of individuals without contracts. Currently, Ian Poveda of Sheffield Wednesday, Luke Ayling of Middlesbrough, and Cody Drameh of Birmingham City are all with other Championship teams.
