The worst is still to come, according to Jeff Stelling, who is questioning why the Premier League took so long to rule on the Everton points deduction appeal.
The renowned broadcaster criticized the “shambolic” decision-making process and revealed that, with a second charge imminent, the verdict might not be heard until after the season is over.
Stelling went on to criticize the Premier League’s organisational structure and insisted that both Everton and Nottingham Forest would fight the new rulings when they are announced.
Stelling angrily said, “I thought four was the maximum they would get and it might even have been less than that,” during a live talkSPORT broadcast on February 27 at 06:25. The fact that it has taken four months is my main issue with everything.
“How can they take that long? The entire process takes four months? Naturally, the other accusations they have made against Forest are worse.
“The likelihood is that if they appeal—and believe me, they will appeal because of what has happened in the past—that the results of those appeals won’t be known until after the season ends, which is about as chaotic as it gets.”
When will the second PSR charge be issued to Everton?
The Premier League will have complete control over the ongoing relegation battle, as Everton might not find out the outcome of their second profit and sustainability charge until after the season’s final game.
It had previously been stated that the result of the first appeal would be significant in determining the conclusion of the second charge, and that an additional deduction of points would increase the likelihood of relegation at Goodison Park.
Simon Jordan compared the situation to committing the same act after being recently released from prison, speculating that the club would face an even worse punishment as a result of their second indictment.
Following the club’s successful appeal, which resulted in their ten-point deduction being lowered to six, attention has shifted to the second charge, which will now take the place of the previous ruling and raise more concerns at Goodison Park.
