Everton: As news breaks, Nathan Patterson and Youssef Chermiti are benched.

Nathan Patterson, a defender for Everton, was demoted to the reserves and was selected for the under-21 team’s match against Fulham on February 26.

Youssef Chermiti is also included in the squad as they strive to accrue playing time and contend for a spot in the starting lineup.

This season, Patterson has made 19 league appearances for the Toffees, whereas Chermiti has only made nine appearances totaling just 57 minutes of playing time.

For Everton, Patterson and Chermiti both have work to do.

It is imperative that Patterson and Chermiti take advantage of this chance to prove to Everton how valuable they are.

Right-back Patterson has a real opportunity to earn a starting position in the first squad, particularly in light of the declining and aging performances of Seamus Coleman and Ashley Young.

Additionally, the Scotland international Ben Godfrey can push for a starting place at right-back because he is frequently used out of position there.

Chermiti also has the opportunity to give forwards who have had difficulty finding the net on a regular basis, like Calvert-Lewin and Beto, much-needed competition.

Not only is Sean Dyche irritated with Calvert-Lewin’s lack of goal for the past twenty games, but so is his former teammate Conor Coady.

Chermiti signed a contract with Dyche at the club, so he would have had some influence over the situation, but it is unclear if he would truly receive more minutes.
