Derek McInnes knows Rangers lucky dip days are over as he reveals what he likes about Philippe Clement

Derek McInnes knows Rangers lucky dip days are over as he reveals what he likes about Philippe Clement.

Kilmarnock defeated Michael Beale’s Light Blues on the opening day, but McInnes believes his Belgian replacement has brought clarity.

According to Derek McInnes, Rangers were taken off guard by Kilmarnock on their first day under Michael Beale. However, Philippe Clement’s team is more confident in their abilities.

The Premiership leaders return to Rugby Park with a two-point advantage in the table. When the season began in August, Beale’s title bid failed to take off, as the Gers were defeated 1-0 in Ayrshire.

McInnes expected unpredictability from the visitors that day, but is not optimistic about Clement’s team’s performance.

They thrashed Hearts 5-0 over the weekend in their most emphatic performance of the season, and the Killie manager sees a distinct style and purpose in his former club’s approach.

“Maybe the performance that day was unsure, a bit of uncertainty about the Rangers performance,” McInnes added. “They have a sense of certainty now. You know exactly what you’re going to receive.

“I really appreciate how he plays. They’re direct, simple, and organised. Their work, both in and out of possession, demonstrates great detail.

“I don’t think they believe they are anything other than who they are. They play forward, ask questions, place balls in the box, and shoot from a distance.

“They will work you, and you must be able to withstand it. We expect a tough game, but I also expect Rangers to give us a tough game if we are anything like ourselves.”
