Arsenal formally makes a signing offer for Amadou Onana.

According to the Spanish publication Sport, Arsenal has formally proposed to sign Everton player Amadou Onana this summer.

There has been a lot of talk that the Gunners may try to replace Thomas Partey, who has had injury issues recently, with a new midfield player during the off-season.

Though Martin Zubimendi and Douglas Luiz have been suggested as possible targets for the North London club, Onana is starting to emerge as a major contender.

Sport claims that Arsenal is eager to get the Belgian and has already put up a formal offer to entice the midfield player to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal will need to shell out a lot of cash to recruit the 22-year-old since Everton is reportedly willing to cash in on him and wants to pay a sum of about £51 million.

Sport, however, reports that Manchester United has also shown interest in acquiring the 6′ 4in monster and has made an offer for Everton to capture the midfield player.

Onana heading to Arsenal

According to the Spanish publication, Barcelona is eager to hire Onana and is prepared to pay him an estimated £34 million. But even if Barcelona makes a bid, Everton won’t accept it because the Blaugranas’ offer won’t cover their valuation. As a result, Arsenal is now leading the Catalan powerhouses in this competition.

For the most part of the season, Mikel Arteta has started Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard, and Kai Havertz in midfield. However, the Emirates club looked great when the Spanish manager used Jorginho in the engine room and started Havertz in the number nine role against Newcastle United.

Thus, this suggests that Jorginho should stay at Arsenal. The Italian international is 32 years old, therefore it’s doubtful that he could play on a regular basis.

Consequently, it could be wise to buy a new defensive-minded midfield player, and Onana would be a wise choice given the Belgian’s previous Premier League showings.

It would be intriguing to watch, though, if the North London team decides to buy the Everton star in the end to bolster their engine room before the upcoming campaign.
