Rangers: Kris Boyd makes 8-0 admission on Sky Sports following what transpired v Hearts at Ibrox.

Rangers might quite easily have defeated Hearts 7-0 or 8-0, according to Sky Sports commentator Kris Boyd.

The Gers defeated the Jambos 5-0 at Ibrox on Saturday (24 February) to extend their advantage at the top of the table.

January signings Mohamed Diomande, Oscar Cortes and Fabio Silva all scored, along with a brace from Cyriel Dessers.

“Hearts are the best of a bad bunch below them at this moment in time,” remarked Boyd, as per Sky Sports Scotland. “It was 5-0, but it could quite easily have been seven or eight the way they went about it.”

Rangers thrash Hearts to raise pressure on Celtic

Celtic had been leading the way in the Scottish Premiership for the bulk of the season, only to see their bitter city rivals overtake them earlier this month.

The performances from Brendan Rodgers’s side have been below standard, with the displays of Philippe Clement’s side at the opposite end of the scale.

Hearts traveled to Ibrox full of confidence thanks to a strong run of form, but their chances of taking four points on the road were immediately destroyed.

It was a five-star showing from the home side, who were cheered on by the Ibrox crowd from the very first whistle.

The hard work doesn’t stop now, however, with the Gers having to sustain their momentum in the league, but also in the Europa League and the Scottish Cup.

Remarkably, a domestic treble is now on the cards in Clement’s first season in command, along with the chance of victory in Europe.

In other Rangers news, one Gers sensation is likely to force Clement’s hand after a behind-the-scenes Ibrox development.
