Rangers face red tape for permanent Fabio Silva transfer at Ibrox in new update

Rangers face red tape for permanent Fabio Silva transfer at Ibrox in new update.

According to Derek Ferguson, Rangers will encounter a roadblock in their quest to sign Wolves’ Fabio Silva to a long-term contract.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, the former Rangers player expressed concern that the Light Blues would lack the funds necessary to finalize a deal to sign an attacker who will have cost the Premier League team £35 million in 2020 (Sky Sports).

Since signing on loan during the previous transfer window, Silva, 21, has made nine appearances and scored three goals, including during Saturday’s 5-0 thrashing of Hearts at Ibrox (24 February).

Although Ferguson believes Silva is thriving in Glasgow and is impressed by the forward, he is skeptical that a comprehensive contract can be reached.

“I believe, and I hope I’m speaking for the majority of supporters, that you want to keep a player who costs £35 million,” he stated.

“The ability that he’s previously demonstrated, his adaptability, means that he was likely asked to play a position that, while familiar to him, may not be his best, namely the position of number nine.

“He’s a little bit better, in my opinion, in the 10 role—dropping deep and going on the half turn. However, it’s evident that he’s a talented football player, and the more players the team has, the better.

Does he fit that description? Indeed. Will money prove to be the obstacle? That is what is going to be the issue. Therefore, I’m not sure if a deal could be made there.

But he’s shown to be a really good player. The one thing that kind of jumps out at me is how at ease he appears to be around his teammates, the spectators, and everything else.

From where he is right now, he seems like a happy-go-lucky Rangers player. He’s a class act, in my opinion, but I think he will improve as the weather gets better. The pitches may get a little better if the awful weather starts to clear up.

Will Fabio Silva be a full-transfer signing for the Rangers?

It’s evident that there is a bond between the Portuguese star and the fans based on Ferguson’s accurate assessment of Silva.

However, as is often the case with these matters, money is at play, and Wolves would want to recover a large portion of the sum they paid to bring him to Molineux as a teenager.

Stranger things have happened, and if he doesn’t get the opportunity at Wolves again, who knows? Maybe another loan agreement might be made.

But as of right now, it would be extremely optimistic to believe that Rangers could find the money to finalize Silva’s transfer.
