Rangers: Connor Goldson shares honest verdict on Scottish Premiership title battle with Celtic
Connor Goldson, a defender for the Rangers, has reaffirmed that he is not taking the title match against Celtic lightly.
With both clubs winning over the weekend, the Gers continue to lead the Scottish Premiership by two points.
Following their 5-0 victory over a previously strong Hearts team at Ibrox, Rangers will now shift their attention to Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Wednesday, February 28.
Before that game, Goldson was asked about the Rangers‘ chances of winning the championship. The Daily Record [25 February] cited Goldson as responding, “I know what you want me to say, but it’s not going to happen.”
“We played the third club in the league on Saturday, which was a difficult match, and on Wednesday we play the fourth team in the league.
“We have a big game against a team that defeated Celtic at home earlier in the season, 1-0, on Wednesday in a challenging location.
“We just need to focus on that and hopefully get another three points because we know how difficult it is to go there.”
Rugby Park’s Kilmarnock test will be difficult for Rangers.
On Sunday, February 25, Celtic defeated Motherwell with a late goal, one day after Rangers thrashed Hearts 5-0.
Right now, the Light Blues are not only dismissing everyone who comes their way, but they are doing it with the poise of future champs.
Supporters, like Goldson, won’t get ahead of themselves too much. Fans, however, have every right to feel assured about
It is hoped that both this streak and Celtic’s erratic play continue to create a small lead before the next Old Firm match.
From only a few months ago, there has been an incredible turnaround, and should they complete the job successfully, this title triumph will be particularly memorable.
But to use a cliché, let’s approach each game as it comes up. The cup final is now set for midweek away against Kilmarnock.
