Rangers transfer news: £20m Jack Butland sale on the cards this summer, ‘money talks’
Although Jack Butland seems content at Rangers, Derek Ferguson claims that a price tag of between £15 and £20 million could trigger a summer transfer as “money talks.”
Since joining Ibrox on a free transfer last summer, the goalie has been in incredible form, starting 27 league games with 17 clean sheets, or 63% of the total (transfermarkt).
The 30-year-old Butland has made such an impression in Glasgow that there have been rumors that Gareth Southgate may give him an England recall to face top goalkeeper Jordan Pickford at Euro 2024 this summer.
Although Nottingham Forest was connected to a bid late in the previous transfer window, Ferguson, a former Rangers player, believes that is perfectly justified and hopes that Butland’s affection with the Ibrox audience would make him reject any summer attempts (STV, 31 January).
“First of all, it’s not a shock if he was recalled to that England squad because he’s been absolutely magnificent since he came up here, on and off the park,” Ferguson remarked in an exclusive interview with Ibrox News.
In keeping with the manager’s remarks, he is a true player impact and asset in that dressing room.
Are the rumors of an exit concerning? It’s because, like the majority of Rangers supporters, I like Jack Butland and everything about him, of course.
“He’s an exceptional goalie, but he’s also a wonderful person. He simply gets down to business, is very grounded, and lacks any sort of conceit. He is well-liked in the club and for the way he dresses.
It would require quite a few bob to entice him to go. I’m not sure of his situation, although he’s undoubtedly made a few bucks from his time at upscale clubs.
Money talks sometimes, but he seemed content in his current situation. I believe it would take between £15 and £20 million for Rangers to let him go.
“I believe that’s what the Rangers would need to consider before considering Butland’s release. He has been a major asset and driving force behind the Rangers’ success this year.
This summer, will Jack Butland be leaving the Rangers?
I should be asking why Jack Butland would leave the Rangers this summer instead of anything else.
Consider this: Gareth Southgate, the manager of England, has already noticed his form, and he still has three trophies still to win this season.
In addition, he might participate in the Champions League the following season, which is something that no other England goalie will be able to do.
Money talks, and Rangers might be forced to accept a sizable offer. However, Butland believed that going back south of the border at this time would be completely nonsensical.
