Ibrox View: Rangers must hand star new contract now after four key pass masterclass v Hearts

In their most recent Scottish Premiership encounter, Rangers easily defeated Hearts, maintaining their lead at the top of the standings.

On Saturday, February 24, the Gers, headed by new signings Mohamed Diomande, Oscar Cortes, and Fabio Silva, were playing brilliantly at Ibrox.

In Glasgow, all three of the loanees found the scoreboard, and summer acquisition Cyriel Dessers added two more goals.

While not having a goal on the scoreboard, midfield maestro John Lundstram gave Philippe Clement an incredible performance.

The former Sheffield United player made an impact in a number of other areas in addition to providing an assist for Silva’s goal in the second half.
The seasoned midfield player completed 76 of his 85 passes, or 89% of them, according to Sofascore.

with a remarkable total of four crucial passes—two more than any other player on the field—being made.

Lundstram also had the most touches (101), and throughout his hugely impactful performance, he produced two clearances, one interception, and one tackle.

The midfielder’s contract at Ibrox is set to expire at the end of the current campaign, which is concerning because the club probably cannot afford to lose him considering his current form.

Rangers executives need to give John Lundstram a new contract at Ibrox. This should put pressure on the decision-makers in Glasgow to move quickly and ensure that Lundstram receives a new contract as soon as feasible.

The fact that Rangers lost players like Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos for free when their contracts expired last summer will still infuriate supporters, and Lundstram’s signing will need to prevent that from happening this time around.
