Rangers star Todd Cantwell set for lengthy absence.
Rangers expect Todd Cantwell will be out injured for at least three weeks, sources have told Football Insider.
The midfielder was dragged off the field in the 60th minute in the Gers’ 3-0 win against St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park on Sunday (18 February) and was spotted getting treated with an ice pack.
Philippe Clement will be without the 25-year-old owing to an injury to his hamstring, meaning he will miss vital fixtures for the club.
Cantwell has previously missed four league games and two Europa League group-stage encounters between September and October with a knee ailment.
Now, he seems certain to miss vital league matchups against Kilmarnock, Motherwell and Hibernian as well as both legs of their Europa League last-16 games against Benfica.
He will also struggle to be fit for the Dundee encounter before the international break.
The former Norwich City ace has made 33 appearances for Rangers this season and has scored six goals and supplied four assists.
After a difficult start to the season, Cantwell has bagged five of his goals in his past nine games for the Gers and has been important for the club surpassing arch-rivals Celtic at the summit of the table.
He joins the likes of Abdallah Sima, Rabbi Matondo and Danilo in the treatment room, but Clement has been buoyed by the return of attacker Kemar Roofe.
Rangers stay top of the table after their 5-0 hammering of third-place Hearts on Saturday afternoon (24 February).
They are next in action against Kilmarnock on Wednesday evening (28 February).
