Premier League attacked over ‘draconian’ Everton predicament, it’s ‘unfair’.
Henry Winter has urged on the Premier League to get its act together as Everton fans continue to wait on the verdict of an appeal against a 10-point deduction.
The Toffees are currently awaiting the decision of their challenge against the sentence issued to the club after being found guilty of flouting Profit and Sustainability guidelines.
With Sean Dyche’s side dangling above the relegation zone, just one point above of Luton Town with one more game remaining, fans are impatient to learn the decision of the appeal.
Speaking live via talkSPORT on Sunday (25 February, 9:58am), Winter said: “Until the Premier League get their act together and the independent panel actually rule on what the punishment for Everton truly is…
“At the time, most people thought it would be six points [deduction] and the 10 points was a bit draconian, the issue with Forest – it’s very confusing.
“I think it’s very unfair and it’s slightly casting a shadow over the whole league. There is only uncertainty down the bottom.”
The date and time of when the findings from the independent panel would be disclosed has been quite wishy-washy, with fans anticipating to hear the conclusion way before the end of February.
Yet, there is still no evidence of these appeal decisions, which leaves the Toffees in a very uncomfortable situation. Without the 10-point deduction, Everton would be challenging for a top-half finish.
Although their run of performances in recent weeks has been fairly disappointing, the pressure and anxiety could be getting to some of the players, which would not be there if the deduction was taken away.
Many clubs seem to be struggling this season, including Nottingham Forest, who are also at risk of facing a sanction owing to a charge for a PSR breach.
However, the Goodison Park fans will be hoping to avoid any more fear of relegation after struggling at the bottom of the standings for the third successive season.
Before a verdict is reached about the club’s appeal, Everton may now be anywhere in the Premier League standings, which is obviously having an influence on the club as a whole.
In other Everton news, Jim White has insulted Simon Jordan as a fresh twist has surfaced in the financial issue and points deduction saga.
