Everton confirmed XI v Brighton: Ashley Young axed as Amadou Onana decision made.
Everton manager Sean Dyche has made one alteration to his team’s starting lineup for their Premier League match against Brighton on Saturday, February 24.
Ashley Young has been dropped by the Toffees manager, with the 38-year-old taking his place on the bench, while Leeds United loanee Jack Harrison has returned to Everton’s starting lineup.
Despite scoring off the bench last time out, Belgium international Amadou Onana stays on the bench, with Dyche opting for Idrissa Gueye and James Garner in midfield against the Seagulls.
Can Everton survive relegation in the Premier League?
The attitude around Goodison Park right now is really dark, and Dyche and his team will be hoping to change that on Saturday and finally get back to winning in the Premier League.
Everton struggled in their last draw against managerless Crystal Palace, relying on a late header from Onana. If they wish to avoid relegation to the Championship this season, they must improve their performance as quickly as possible.
Dyche’s team has been powerful and resolute defensively, but they will need to be on top of their game if they are to return from the south coast with any points. Brighton haven’t been in great form, so this is definitely a winnable game.
Hopefully, the Toffees can turn the tide and stop the slide towards the Championship by putting off-field concerns to one side and focusing on matters on the pitch.
A victory over the Seagulls would be a significant step towards Premier League survival this season.
