Sky Sports journalist drops £67m Celtic transfer verdict after 5-0 Ibrox win v Hearts

Rangers: Sky Sports journalist drops £67m Celtic transfer verdict after 5-0 Ibrox win v Hearts.

Rangers’ 5-0 victory over Hearts highlighted the importance of the January transfer window in the title chase.

According to a Sky Sports correspondent, the Gers defeated the Jambos at Ibrox on Saturday (February 24).

Winter transfer arrivals. Mohamed Diomande, Oscar Cortes, and Fabio Silva all scored, with Cyriel Dessers netting twice.

“Has today highlighted the importance of the January window in the title race?” questioned Benstead, according to Sky Sports. “Three Rangers newcomers, all of whom scored and brought new energy to the team.

“Philippe Clement now has more depth and choices off the bench. Celtic have £67 million in the bank, but have they given Brendan Rodgers enough opportunities on the pitch?”

New Rangers trio repaid Philippe Clement’s faith at Ibrox.

Rangers fans weren’t sure how manager Philippe Clement would handle his first transfer window at Ibrox.

Many were clearly concerned following Michael Beale’s mixed recruiting in the summer, when the manager brought nine new players to Ibrox in a massive rebuild.

Jack Butland and Abdallah Sima impressed early on, but several others underperformed, which contributed significantly to Beale’s dismissal shortly thereafter.

Current manager Clement has entirely turned things around at Ibrox, but he still needed to enter the market despite a promising start after joining.

Diomande, Cortes, and Silva have all signed on loan, and all three are flourishing under the Belgian as the Gers soar in the Scottish Premiership.

They all contributed to a spectacular performance at Ibrox, which saw third-placed Hearts blasted away from the start.

Summer signings Dessers’ double and Beale’s introduction to Scotland have helped Rangers gain a five-point lead over Celtic.
