Andy Walker reckons Celtic fans will be fuming given the club’s lack of spending and Rangers’ recent resurgence.
The Hoops announced on 23 February that their revenue has rocketed to £82million.
But the Gers have made a comeback to the top of the SPFL and are presently in the lead to win the championship.
As reported by the Daily Record, Walker, a pundit for Sky Sports, said on Go Radio, “I don’t think it will wash.” I believe Celtic had a month to recognise that Rangers were getting better above all else.
“They have a manager that has improved the squad and individual players with some amazing progress. The team’s performance is improving, but it has been far too long since Celtic’s play, form, and overall quality have been enjoyable to watch.
“You brush these things aside; Celtic has, of course, been managed successfully for a lot of years. There is no denying the enormous success of the player trade mechanism. But considering what’s at risk in the end, why are you taking a chance by not adding one or two players with some pedigree, knowing that Rangers are getting better and that you’re giving yourself the best chance to win this crucial title?
If they were to win the championship, the financial results would be even more remarkable. Who would you blame if they lost it? It’s quite peculiar.
Rangers have drastically improved under Clement
Due to the team’s lack of desire and investment in upgrading the squad, particularly during a critical transfer window, Celtic fans have every reason to be incensed.
Despite having outstanding financial numbers, the team has struggled to sign big players in contrast to Rangers’ clear progress.
It is impossible to overestimate the significance of strengthening the team in order to keep the Premiership competitive, especially in the title fight against a rejuvenated Gers team.
The feeling that Celtic lost a significant chance to improve their prospects and live up to the expectations of their supporters is the source of the frustration.
It’s also a terrific time to be a Gers fan because of their proactive attitude to building the team, as well as their recent momentum and achievements, which have given fans hope and confidence.
In contrast to Celtic’s seeming stagnation, the team’s investment in quality signings and their apparent improvement under a promising Philippe Clement instills confidence and pride in the team’s direction and chances for success.
