Premier League mock Everton with official post amid points deduction appeal situation..
The Premier League has teased Everton in an official tweet about the appeal to their points deduction.
The league uploaded a photo of the top-flight table on its Twitter page on Thursday (22 February), where it put an asterisk next to the Toffees’ name, with a note regarding their 10-point deduction on the bottom of the graphic.
It comes as the Blues are still waiting to hear back regarding their appeal against the verdict, with the situation now dragging on since November.
There was predictably a significant pushback from those of an Everton perspective towards the tweet as many regarded it as the Premier League having a chuckle at their expense.
There is absolutely no reason why it’s taken so long to get a fresh ruling given this is only an appeal, rather than a full court case.
The Toffees need to know where they stand on the topic since it could prove to be the difference in deciding which league they will be playing in next season.
While they presently find themselves clear of the relegation zone, they are level on points with third-bottom Luton Town, who have been putting up a great fight in their battle for survival.
It’s thus far unknown how many points the Blues could receive back if they were to be successful, although they would undoubtedly welcome any at this juncture in time.
Frustrations are surely mounting after the club’s supporters were already disappointed by how the Premier League has handled the problem from the beginning.
Sean Dyche will want a conclusion to the situation quickly, not only so he knows where his team stands, but also to bring to a stop the incessant inquiries he’s faced regarding the appeal over the past few months.
While the Toffees were in the wrong and they accepted their guilt, there are still many individuals who feel they were handled with harshly.
It’s even tougher to keep their faithful admirers waiting so long to hear back about the appeal given they have already gone through enough over the past few years.
With the many unknowns regarding the purchase by 777 Partners and the club’s finances in a turmoil, it would be a pleasant lift to the supporters’ spirits if they can get a few points back.
That choice simply has to come soon as another round of top-flight matches is just around the corner in the build-up to the end of the season.
In other Everton news, Jamie Carragher has divulged how many points the Toffees could earn back following their appeal.
