Newcastle United can ill-afford any more slip-ups this season.

Even if Eddie Howe’s team has achieved a lot of impressive outcomes thus far, consistency is still a problem.

Even though Newcastle has defeated the Gunners already this season, the thought of traveling to Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday still seems intimidating.

It appears that not many people are considering Howe’s team seriously. After all, Paul Merson had forecast a 3-1 victory for the home team and warned that Dan Burn’s matchup with Bukayo Saka may get “messy.”

Meanwhile, Chris Sutton has also opted for an Arsenal victory.

Peter Crouch has now spoken his opinion on the subject.

Arsenal vs Newcastle: Performance crucial for Eddie Howe

At Arsenal, teams might lose away. This season, Manchester City and Liverpool have both done just that.

For Howe, though, the way a performance is delivered is what counts most. Newcastle has to step up in a significant away game after suffering crushing losses at the Etihad Stadium, Anfield, and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium thus far this season.

If Newcastle loses valiantly, it would at least give hope for what might happen in the remaining games of the season.

There are causes for optimism, with major players like Alexander Isak returning. For a variety of reasons, this season has not quite gone as planned, but it would be extremely fruitful to finish with both a deep run in the FA Cup and at least some level of European qualification.

Newcastle must demonstrate that they can still handle challenges in order to accomplish that. A strong showing against a title contender would undoubtedly accomplish that.
