Former Ohio State Buckeyes Nick Bosa and Chase Young left their stamp on Super Bowl LVIII, despite the final result. The ex-Buckeyes combined for eight tackles in the San Francisco 49ers’ defeat

versus the Kansas City Chiefs. Bosa and Young made sure the Chiefs quarterback was uncomfortable in the pocket as well, totaling five QB hits throughout the course of the contest.

Sunday marked Bosa’s second-ever Super Bowl participation, but the first for Young in his four-year career. The former Washington Commander sounded distraught during his postgame chat with the media, summing up the defeat in one phrase. “It’s tough,” Young added. “Just to get in the mix midway through the season, come to a terrific bunch. It’s tough.” Young made his influence on the game within ten minutes into the first quarter.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes stepped back to pass, and was introduced first-hand to Young’s tackling talents. The play resulted in a seven-yard loss for the Chiefs.

Young was dealt to the 49ers from the Commanders in the middle season and will become a free agent this offseason. Only time will tell if San Francisco appreciates his cooperation with Bosa enough to bring Young back for another year. Bosa, on the other hand, is sitting pretty following a contract extension at the beginning of the season. Having inked a five-year, $170 million deal back in September, Bosa is attached to the 49ers through the 2029 campaign. After that year, Bosa will become an unrestricted free agent.
