Everton is adopting a puzzling transfer strategy.

Everton is in a challenging circumstance. They are on the verge of relegation every year, but they also run the prospect of facing FFP sanctions, which would further limit their capacity to participate and make purchases in the Premier League.

Formerly a fixture in the top half of the table and a potential contender for European football, the Toffees are now a laughingstock team in the Premier League, with mostly moral victories to their name.

Nevertheless, Everton never gives up and, with the proper young players and strategic use of their budget, they might reassemble their team around a core that can compete well in the English premier league for years to come.

Strangely enough, though, Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com claims that Everton is looking to sign a top young goalkeeper despite though they already have Jordan Pickford, one of the best stoppers in the league, on a contract that runs through 2026–2027.

Mile Svilar is a 24-year-old goalkeeper, and Longo claims that Everton has inquired about him from Roma. However, the Giallorossi are not interested in selling the goalie until they receive an offer that is too good to turn down.

There isn’t much money for the Toffees to waste. Even though Svilar is regarded as the Stadio Olimpico’s heir apparent and is among the top goalkeepers in Serie A, Everton’s decision to pursue this transfer isn’t cost-effective.

Svilar might be a better option than Pickford, but that is only a theory. Furthermore, even in the unlikely event that he is, the expense is probably much greater than the improvement.

Everton should concentrate on adding players when they are most needed, especially on young, talented attackers, to invigorate a team severely lacking in star power.

If you are a Premier League team trying to go up the ladder, those are the expensive players that are worth investing in. A wise transfer strategy is not the same as overspending on a goalkeeper you don’t need.

Although Svilar is a good player with a promising future in the Italian city, Everton shouldn’t be carrying him at this time.
