Everton are making a mind-boggling transfer attempt for a top young player.

Everton find themselves in a tricky predicament. Every year, they are on the verge of relegation, but they also face FFP punishments, which will further limit their ability to compete and invest in the Premier League.

The Toffees were once a fixture in the top half of the table and European football hopefuls, but they are now a laughingstock in the Premier League, with only moral wins to rally behind.

However, Everton always has optimism, and if they can make the most of their expenditures and locate the right young players, they might rebuild their roster with a core capable of long-term success in the English Premier League.

Surprisingly, Calciomercato.com’s Daniele Longo reports that Everton are looking for a top young goalkeeper despite already having one of the league’s greatest shot-stoppers under contract until 2026/27 in Jordan Pickford.

According to Longo, Everton has enquired with Roma about Mile Svilar, but the Giallorossi are uninterested in selling the 24-year-old goalkeeper unless they receive an offer that they cannot ignore

The Toffees don’t have much money to waste. While Svilar is seen as the heir to the goal at the Stadio Olimpico and should be one of the best goalkeepers in Serie A, it simply isn’t economical for Everton to go for this transfer.

Svilar could be an upgrade on Pickford, but, firstly, that’s theoretical. And secondly, even if he is, the amount of improvement pales in comparison to the likely cost.

Everton must focus on adding players in need, particularly top young attacking talents, to give zest to a roster that is severely lacking in star power.

Those are the high-priced players worth investing in if you want to climb the Premier League rankings. Overspending on a goalkeeper you don’t need is the polar opposite of a sound transfer strategy.

Svilar is a talented player with a promising future in the Italian capital, but he does not make sense for Everton at this time.
