Cyriel Dessers reacts to Hearts beating as he delivers 22-year-old special Rangers commendation.
Two-goal Rangers hero Cyriel Dessers was on fire today as he helped demolish Hearts to go five points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
The Nigerian slammed away two close-range finishes to bring his goal tally to 16 for the season for Rangers [Transfermarkt] and was granted the man of the match award by RangersTV at the end of the game.
Mohamed Diomande, Oscar Cortes and Fabio Silva were also on target as Rangers blew away the Jambos in the most convincing and dominant effort of the season thus far.
The former was terrific in the middle of the pitch alongside John Lundstram and set the tone for the contest with a magnificent left-footed strike from outside the box.
It’s Diomande’s second goal in two games after netting an equally spectacular shot last weekend against St Johnstone in Perth.
The Ivorian is already being likened to former Manchester City and Barcelona great Yaya Toure by Rangers supporters and that is a huge indication to the effect he’s made in Govan thus far.
Cyriel Dessers was thrilled that Mohamed Diomande netted again tonight and is keen for his colleague to continue the scoring streak in the games to come.
Dessers told RangersTV following the Hearts clash: “It was a really beautiful afternoon for everyone who loves Rangers. I think we played a really nice game against a talented team, let’s not forget they are third in the league.
“Although the result is 5-0, I didn’t think they played a bad game but I think we were really effective and we did our job. If you can see this atmosphere at Ibrox, it is a great afternoon.
“You feel from the first minutes at Ibrox that the energy is always buzzing but if you can score a goal at that point, it’s a big knock for them.
“Dio (Diomande) made an amazing goal and it’s his second goal in a week now so let’s hope he can keep this going.
“It was hard work today. Most of the clubs in the league just play the ball long but with Hearts today, they wanted to try and play today and I have to push and run like crazy!
“Sometimes you lack a little bit of freshness when you have the ball but I think I did my job for the team and I’m happy to get two goals and especially in a massive win, so really happy with this.”
