According to a new FFP twist, Everton may now sue Man City –Wyness

WynessIn a “ridiculous” new twist, former Everton manager Keith Wyness has suggested Everton may now sue Man City for Premier League points.

The 66-year-old, who ran a football consultancy advising elite clubs after serving as CEO at Goodison Park from 2004 to 2009, blasted top-flight executives for taking too long to resolve Man City’s 115 outstanding FFP charges in an interview with Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast.

Nine seasons’ worth of 115 financial violations were brought against City by the Premier League last year; however, an independent panel has not yet had a chance to consider their case.

The triple winners’ trial is scheduled for later this year, and it is anticipated that they will not receive a verdict on their charges for at least another 12 months.

Since then, Everton has been charged with and fined for one violation of the Profitability and Sustainability Rules of the league; in the coming weeks, they may lose more points for a different violation.

Wyness can’t believe ‘ridiculous’ Man City delay – Everton could now sue

Wyness suggested the Toffees could sue City for points on the league table if they are eventually found guilty – and Everton are cleared following their appeals.

He stated on the Insider Track podcast of Football Insider, “It’s complicated with the 115 charges.” You’ve heard me say it a lot.

They seemed to divide into three or four groups.

“I simply don’t see why it’s taking so long. Everton recently lost to Man City; if City is found guilty and we are exonerated of all charges, do we have a basis to sue and regain those points?

That’s where the Premier League’s foolish roller coaster might come to a stop.

That could turn out to be a crazy circumstance.

“I firmly oppose the postponement of Man City’s case hearing, and the Premier League could have handled it far more skillfully.”

In other news, Guardiola has revealed in private who among the Manchester United players is qualified to play for Man City.
