‘I hear…’: David Ornstein shares new Everton & Nott’m Forest hearing update in last 24 hours

David Ornstein has reported that Nottingham Forest will hear the outcome of their profit and sustainability charge next, and then the second Everton decision will follow.

According to the journalist covering Athletic on February 22, that will be the Premier League’s next course of action after the appeals procedure at Goodison Park.

Ornstein continued by stating that nobody, least of all the remaining Premier League clubs, benefits from the ongoing rumours around the rulings.

“I hear the Nottingham Forest case will come next and then Everton’s second charge, but some are of the understanding it’s the other way around,” he wrote in a Q&A for The Athletic.

“It’s obvious that nobody is benefiting from the rumours, and the sooner this is resolved, the better—for both the participating teams and the Premier League overall.”

Second PSR charge timeline emerges at Everton

Up to the end of the season, supporters of Forest and Everton will probably be troubled by the second charge for a second violation of profit and sustainability regulations, since further point deductions are about to occur.

Evertonians will be closely monitoring the proceedings as it may provide them with an idea of what to expect at Goodison Park, given the knowledge that Forest is expected to receive its verdict first.

Simon Jordan, however, recently made the suggestion that Everton might face a more severe punishment because this is a second infraction, drawing a comparison to reoffending after serving time in prison.

Alex Crook, on the other hand, was given another point reduction for his insistence that, should the club be found guilty of their second accusation, relegation would be a genuine possibility at Goodison Park.

Ornstein is correct: the sooner things become clear, the better for everyone engaged in a season where the relegation struggle may very well be determined by things that happen off the pitch.
