The San Francisco 49ers are hoping to avenge their defeat and return to the title game after falling to the Kansas City Chiefs 25–22 in this year’s Super Bowl. Before the upcoming season, one elite playmaker might not get the deal he deserves.
NFL Insider Believes San Francisco 49ers Won’t Be Able to Extend Brandon Aiyuk’s Contract
NFL expert Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report says he thinks San Francisco lacks the money to pay a “number one” receiver such as Brandon Aiyuk. He, in the regular season, caught 75 passes for 1,342 yards and 7 touchdowns.
“I believe he has truly become a legitimate number one.” I’m simply not persuaded. Taking into account his impressive performance and his growing recognition as a legitimate number one wide receiver. At this point, I’m not sure San Francisco will be able to pay Brandon Aiyuk the kind of money he will demand.
Even though Aiyuk had a breakthrough season this year, breaking the 1,300-yard plateau for the first time in his career, San Francisco still features All-Pro George Kittle, Debbie Samuel, and Offensive Player of the Year Christian McCaffrey on the roster. which makes it challenging to give Aiyuk the money he will probably demand.
Should San Francisco Trade Aiyuk or Extend His Contract?
Aiyuk’s expected request for a large contract extension makes it best for both parties to trade him for assets. Aiyuk’s quality makes him a valuable asset for many teams as an outside weapon, and Jordan Schultz thinks he would be a top choice if he were to become available.
“This is going to be one of the most sought-after players in free agency time if he enters the market. not only wide receivers. Due to the fact that he makes such a difference… He is one of those unique players.
As he approaches the final year of his rookie contract, Aiyuk should earn slightly more than $14 million in 2024—that is, if he isn’t traded or extended. Given the money other offensive weapons are making, San Francisco may run into problems if they decide not to renew his deal this season. In addition, this year’s draft is loaded with wide receivers that might be used as a backup if they decide to trade Aiyuk.
