“I had such a headache” – Rangers game left goalkeeper needing to take paracetamol, Ibrox atmosphere too loud

“I had such a headache” — Rangers game left goalie needing to take paracetamol, Ibrox atmosphere too loud..

Last season, Rangers played Union Saint-Gilloise in the qualifying round for a Champions League spot, at a time when Philippe Clement wasn’t in control.

The Scottish team had a wonderful first game at Ibrox, with a 3-0 win, and even though Rangers fell 2-0 in Belgium, they still made it through to the next round of the competition.

Now it seems the visit to Rangers is still on the thoughts of a few, and that includes their captain Anthony Moris, who sat down to have a chat with RTBF.

The goalie noted that they’re expecting a big atmosphere when facing Eintracht Frankfurt tonight, and while giving an example of how loud things might get, he recalled the game at Ibrox in 2022.

“For me, the benchmark so far is the match at Rangers last season. After the game, I even had to take a Dafalgan (brand of paracetamol) since I had such a headache,” said Moris.

“But it’s good because a lot of us experienced that match and we’re going to relive that kind of fervour. We’re going to have to deal with this moment, but we learnt a lot from that encounter in Scotland.”

Union SG and Frankfurt are playing the second round of the Conference League. Following a 2-2 tie in Belgium, they will now decide who’s heading to the round of 16.

Last season, Rangers beat Union SG for a berth in the play-off, and then managed to also best PSV for a spot in the group stages.

However, accompanied by the likes of Napoli, Liverpool and Ajax, the Scottish side ended up with six losses, finishing bottom of their group.
