While Rangers line up a nice £1.2 million windfall, Malik Tillman seems set to stay at PSV.

Malik Tillman, a former star on the Rangers’ loan, is expected to sign a £12 million contract with PSV Eindhoven this summer after making it clear he wants to stay with the team for the upcoming campaign.

And that might result in a handsome £1.2 million gain for the Ibrox team.

The borrowed The Bayern Munich star was a key member of the Ibrox team the previous season, but the agreement to extend the loan to Scottish football permanently fell through this summer when the German powerhouses reevaluated their position and decided to send him to the Eredivisie with PSV, the Champions League winners of Rangers, instead.

Rangers are entitled to an additional 10% sell-on of Bayern’s future price, and it is reported that Rangers received compensation of approximately £1 million as a result of Bayern pulling out of the transaction.

This week, he assisted PSV in securing a draw with Borussia Dortmund in their Round of 16 first-leg Champions League match.

And it appears that he will make the loan move permanent in the upcoming term.

“For me, it always comes down to playing time or prospects,” Tillman stated. After playing for the Rangers last season, I hope to reflect on the second season next summer, when I consistently performed at a high level. That’s how I want things stay for now.

The ambiance is excellent. As a team, we have gotten incredibly close. Both the personnel and the manager are having fun. We’re just football players, that much is evident.

We also play really attractively, in my opinion. We attempt to adhere to Peter Bosz’s exact idea. With or without the ball, it’s all about intensity.”

After his injury healed, Tillman took off, making 16 league games while contributing four assists and five goals.

In 43 games in all competitions, he scored 12 goals for Rangers.
