Rangers injury news: Doctor issues update on Kieran Dowell.
Dr. Rajpal Brar predicts that Rangers midfielder Kieran Dowell will return to training gradually in early March.
According to the injury expert, the 26-year-old would most likely be ruled out due to a sports hernia injury, which is prevalent among football players.
He has been out of action since Gers’ 3-1 victory against Kilmarnock on January 2.
In an exclusive interview with Ibrox News, Brar, a physical therapist and sports scientist, revealed:
“The club did not provide many facts, but based on the timeframe and operation, I believe he has osteitis pubis, sometimes known as a sports hernia, which is prevalent in footballers.
“The best way to reintegrate is gradually and deliberately, with ongoing assessment.
“He will not return to training in February but will be eased back in early next month.”
“He could play a few bounce matches before he’s ready for 90 minutes.”
In February, it was reported that he sustained an injury after his foot became stuck in a rough pitch.
He will be eased back in, and it remains to be seen how Philippe Clement plans to get the most out of him.
The 26-year-old is capable of playing higher up the pitch, but he has been employed in a deeper midfield role this season.
