Rangers hero gives powerful testimony that supports his plan to deal Celtic an additional £30 million blow.

The previous chairman of Genk, Philippe Clement, maintains that the Rangers manager possesses that £30 million Champions League heritage.

After a groundbreaking four months in Glasgow, 49-year-old Belgian manager Clement has rushed into Scottish football and is threatening to sweep everything in front of him.

The Rangers team was without ideas and confidence when the former AS Monaco manager took over, but he turned them into Scottish Premiership leaders.

Despite what Alan Stubbs says, Philippe Clement has already won the League Cup and has closed a seven-point deficit at the top of the standings. The Europa League Last 16 is also imminent.

However, the Belgian coach nearly single-handedly guided two of the nation’s best teams into the Champions League group stages, according to Genk chairman Peter Croonen.

Philippe Clement has Champions League pedigree

In a Daily Record interview, Croonen asserts that Philippe Clement’s influence was the driving force behind KRC Genk’s and Club Brugge’s promotions to the Champions League.

After just 18 months as manager, Clement led Genk to the Belgian Pro League championship. He then moved on to Club Brugge, where he won three league trophies in a row.

Peter Croonen has praised the impact of the former Rangers manager on the national team and believes that neither Genk nor Club Brugge would be seated at the elite table of European football without the bald Belgian skipper.

“To be completely honest, I think that we participated in the Champions League solely because Philippe was our head coach,” Croonen stated.

For Brugge, I can say the same thing. Without him, I don’t think they would have participated in three Champions League games.

Looking at Philippe’s past, you can see that in his second season leading the team, he turned us into champions.

“He moved to Brugge and turned them into three-time champions. As a result, he is among the few head coaches in Belgian football history to have won four straight titles with two separate teams.

His influence on the teams he coaches is therefore quite significant. It comes as no surprise to me that he has already achieved such success in Glasgow.

Extra £30m on line in Rangers title race

In addition, Peter Croonen laments Philippe Clement’s departure from Genk after just one championship, even though the team begged the manager to stay.

Declaring that “the longer Rangers can keep Philippe the better for them,” Clement obviously has a lot of support from the chairman of Genk.

The remarks about the Champions League will definitely be noted by Rangers supporters who read the interview, since the competition will be redesigned for the future season.

Qualification will be worth an additional £30 million to each competitor due to more games and a larger group stage—a staggering amount of money from Rangers’ point of view.

The Scottish Premiership champions will automatically qualify for the premier football competition in Europe, and this has given this year’s title fight an additional financial flavor.

Peter Croonen believes that Rangers have the ideal player not just to challenge for the championship, but also to lead them to the Champions League’s promised land of milk and honey.
